MediaTemple Hosting Review 2017

MediaTemple Hosting Review

A.Introduction

Intergress Technologies was founded by Demian Sellfors in 1998. In 2003, Demien Sellfors merged this company with Media Temple, one of his customers at that time. He retained the Media Temple name.

Headquarters is in Culver City, California.

Media Temple sold itself to GoDaddy in 2013, a move that disappointed some of their customers.

Media Temple had long enjoyed a generally positive reputation while GoDaddy had been considered by many to be one of the poorer web hosting providers. GoDaddy has said it will let Media Temple operate independently.

The company is a cloud and website hosting provider and its chief focus is on helping innovators, digital entrepreneurs, creative agencies and web developers and designers to give online life to their ideas, providing them with high-performance web hosting using the latest technologies that are optimized for speed and security.

Today Media Temple hosts over 1.5 million sites and has over 125,000 clients in more than 100 different countries. Technologies change all the time but Media Temple’s focus doesn’t waver from the commitment to all customers and their success

B.Plans & Pricing

Media Temple offers a wide slew of hosting services that fit each webmaster’s needs – shared cloud hosting, VPS hosting, dedicated servers, managed WordPress hosting, even a private cloud server.

{1}Shared Hosting

Media Temple is credited for building the web’s first public cloud service, the Grid, which uses a cluster of servers to manage customer websites instead of a single server. This grid hosting is sold by the company as its version of shared hosting and is much more powerful and advanced than regular shared hosting service offered by other web hosts in the market. This type of grid architecture handles spikes in traffic very easily, is more scalable and delivers great performance in terms of speed and uptime.

D.Pros & Cons

ProsCons
A unique 100% front-end site review for free. The review lists all problems it finds within your site, such as outdated plugins, faulty coding or slow speed. Lightning fast loading times. Premium hosting means more expensive plans.
GPU prevents your site crashing or being shut down if you have too many visitors. You don’t get a lot for free extras. Individual fees are listed for each element you wish to use.
Tailor-made for WordPress. You don’t get a lot for free extras. Individual fees are listed for each element you wish to use.
No false sales tactics. Everything is black and white with regards to fees for different elements. You must pay to migrate sites from other providers. This is because Media Temple uses their own custom control panel and transferring is far more complex than doing it from cPanel to cPanel as most other providers do.
Support staff that actually are available 24/7/365. You pay extra for a 1:1 consultation. This seems unfair when you pay to host your site and there’s an expectation that you’ll get help to set it up. Custom control panel may be hard to learn.
SSD storage comes out of the box. Only a few 1-click apps.
Host up to 100 sites under one account. You can manually install other apps but it can be tricky to do so.
Owned by GoDaddy, one of the internet’s biggest hosting providers so you know they won’t disappear into the night with your money and data.
