Networksolutions Hosting Review 2017
Networksolutions Hosting Review 2017
Looking for an affordable and feature-rich web hosting package that will help you grow your web presence alongside your business or brand? You might want to consider Network Solutions.
Like any other web hosting provider, Network Solutions claims to offer the best tools to help you create and manage a website. They hosting service is jam-packed with features including user-friendly website-building tools, a wide range of eCommerce tools and services, email marketing capabilities, and a whole lot more besides.
When making an in-depth review about a web hosting provider, I’m looking at a few different things. What are the features? How does their price compare to the competition? Do they have a solid uptime track record? Do they have responsive and knowledgeable customer support staff? Here are the things you need to know about Network Solutions before you decide to sign up with them:
Do they have a solid uptime track record? Do they have responsive and knowledgeable customer support staff? Here are the things you need to know about Network Solutions before you decide to sign up with them:
Established in 1979, Network Solutions was one of the first companies to launch in the DNS registry business. Though it started out as a technology consulting company focused primarily on systems programming services, the company quickly grew and expanded into other areas, IPO-ing in 1997.
Over the years, this Washington, D.C. metro area organisation has withstood numerous acquisitions, including the most recent acquisition in 2011 by Web.com, a takeover that cost $405 million and 18 million shares.
Network Solutions is meant to get you started with necessary website hosting. It’s a decent product but has too many drawbacks to compete with the best-shared hosting competition. Once you sign up with an existing or new domain name, you have the option to add extra security features.
However, these add-ons cost extra. As with similar sites, the introductory price is attractive, but the regular renewal rate skyrockets.Once you sign up with an existing or new domain name, you have the option to add extra security features. B. Plans and Pricing
Network Solutions’ shared hosting plans are offered in three different options: Web Hosting, Professional, and Premium. The price starts at just $9.96 per month to $21.62 per month, with a 1-year term.Their basic shared hosting plan, Web Hosting ($9.96/month) is ideal for individuals and small businesses that are looking to build a simple website and just want a basic web presence. The package includes 300 GB of disk space, unlimited bandwidth, a FREE domain name, and 1,000 email mailboxes. The Professional hosting plan ($13.29/month) is ideal for businesses that are expecting high traffic volumes in their websites; offering 500 GB worth of storage, unlimited bandwidth, and 2,500 email boxes. It also allows for automatic malware scanning. Meanwhile, their high-tier package, Premium ($21.62/month), includes a full suite of premium features and unlimited resources, plus SSL for secure data and advanced performance. It’s best suited for companies that are expecting growth on their site, alongside their business.

Virtual Private Server (VPS) Hosting
For tech-savvy webmasters and businesses that require more hosting muscle, consider Network Solutions’ VPS hosting, which starts at $40 per month (cheaper if you go for a multi-year term). With VPS hosting, you’ll get full root-level control hosting. It gives you independence from other site owners on the same servers, and lets you enjoy the control of dedicated web hosting without costing an arm and a leg.
Network Solutions offers two VPS sub-plans: VPS Essential Hosting and VPS Professional Hosting.Essential Hosting is ideal for starter websites, and includes 10 GB disk space and 500 GB bandwidth. It’s also packed with server management and virtualization tools, and a choice between the Parallels Plesk and Virtuozzo (available on both Linux and Windows platforms) control panels. Professional Hosting builds upon Essential Hosting, but with a skimpy 50 disk space and 2000 GB. The web host also limited you to just 1 GB of RAM and just 200 email accounts. There are far more impressive offers, like in eHost.

Networks Solutions eCommerce Plans
Although all of Network Solutions’ hosting plans come with a few eCommerce add-ons like the ability to put PayPal buttons on your site, their entry-level hosting plan, don’t include true eCommerce options. If you’re looking to build a fully functional eCommerce site, you might want to consider signing up for their eCommerce Website plan, which is available for as low as $7.95 per month.

D. Pros and Cons
|Network Solutions offerings come in customizable packages for most hosting needs||The interface is far from the most intuitive experience available|
|Hosting plans include website-building software and access to other marketing tools||Incessant upselling and questionable pricing packages are a bit infuriating|
|Technical support is available around the clock||Lack of Windows-based servers and dedicated servers could be deal-breakers for some|
E. Performance and Uptime
As with any reliable web hosting provider, Network Solutions ensures that your website will be up and running optimally, and will remain trouble-free throughout the course of your subscription. The company features a 99.99% uptime rating for both Linux and Windows hosting. Their automatic backup and restore services will also give you peace of mind knowing your web presence is dependable and consistent.
Dig further into their Terms of Services, however, and you won’t find any details regarding an uptime guarantee at all. There’s no information on the compensation the company will provide should they fail to meet their promise of a 99.99% uptime. If this is a major factor you need to consider in a web hosting provider, then you’re probably better off with one that does offer an uptime guarantee, like iPage or eHost.
On the upside, it’s good to know that Network Solutions has state-of-the-art, proprietary data centres which are based in the US. This means that they have privately owned data centres and not just a rented space from some third-party company. This gives customers the reliability, redundancy, and scalability they need from a web host. Their maximum security carrier-class facilities are combined with the cutting-edge network architecture that enables Network Solutions to deliver premium service and performance to their customers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
F. Moneyback Policy(30 days)
Network Solutions’ refund policy is an area they probably need to improve on because, in my experience, it’s one of the most absurd I’ve seen so far. Yes, all hosting clients are provided with a standard 30-day money back guarantee, but it comes with a significant catch. And by that, I mean if you ever want to leave and cancel your hosting account with them, you will have to pay a processing fee. This is stated on their Service Agreement page, which says:
“Network Solutions will charge you a processing fee if you terminate or cancel any package prior to the completion of any limited money-back guarantee time period for that package or service (the “Processing Fee”). A Processing Fee of $34.99 will be charged for the cancellation of any one-year annual hosting, e-commerce, or Website design package. The Processing Fees for cancellation of multi-year packages will be $34.99 per year for two-year packages, $34.99 per year for three-year packages, $22.99 per year for five-year packages and $17.99 per year for ten-year packages.”
As you can see, the cancellation fee is calculated on a yearly basis. If you think about it, you could end up losing over $50 just for cancelling your account with them! I mean, who does that to their clients? Apparently, Network Solutions does!
G. Customer Support
Customer support continues to be an area of frustration for many of this company’s users. Live chat isn’t an option with Network Solutions, and email support can be pretty spotty. Telephone support is available around the clock, but that doesn’t mean the department you call will be available to help you.
One of the trickiest things to do with Network Solutions is cancelled hosting. This company doesn’t like to lose its users, and that’s very apparent when it comes to their cancellation practices. In order to cancel any services with the company, you need to call them and navigate their automated phone system to reach a support representative. In my experience, while attempting to cancel a product, I was immediately disconnected after stating the reason for my call. I ultimately had to connect to a sales agent in order to be transferred to the correct department
